If I happen to be in a part of Heaven where there are no dogs, I want to go to a place where there is dogs. Any dog will do. I am not particular. As long as he spins three times before he sits down.”
~ Will Rogers
Recently we had to say goodbye to a loyal friend … “Indi” Vom Blumenkamp. A beautiful black and red German Shepherd who has been a part of our family for 13 years. Indi developed a splenic tumor in her abdomen and surgery did not look promising. She had been enjoying her walks on the farm up until and even on the very day that she suddenly grew weak and passed away. As we sat with our loving companion, tearfully trying to comfort her, in her final hour — I suddenly realized that in the background of our little home Dr. Dwight Allen of A Second Look At Sports was speaking of the loyalty and unconditional love of a dog and even mentioned a German Shepherd he himself once had. Dr. Allen so beautifully said,
A dog’s love reminds me of the unconditional love God has for us. It was C. S. Lewis who said, ‘Our thoughts and feelings come and go. God’s love does not.'”
Within a half hour after listening to this broadcast, Indi took her last breath. What an amazing thought to ponder as we said our last goodbye. You can listen to Dr. Dwight Allen’s podcast here.
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” ~ John 3:16.
